Module based interactive learning
In this training, we will be analyzing the importance of social-emotional learning (SEE) in education. SEE is a framework that equips teachers with the necessary skills to navigate through school, work, and life. The framework is designed to assist Teachers in enhancing their self-preservation, self-control, relationship-building, and decision-making.
It will analyze the responsibility of teachers and academic institutions to support students in achieving academic success, obtaining excellent qualifications, and promoting personal growth. Enabling individuals to work in education as well-rounded individuals equipped with the necessary tools to attain success in the future.
This training material delves into the comprehensive understanding of social-emotional learning. It will cover the concept of social-emotional feedback and its potential benefits for teachers in creating engaging lessons that promote long-term knowledge retention.
Social-Emotional Education (SEE) is an educational approach that focuses on developing students' social and emotional skills to help them succeed academically and in life. It involves teaching students how to manage their emotions, build positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. SEE is based on the idea that social and emotional skills are just as important as academic skills and can be taught and learned in the classroom. By incorporating SEE into their teaching, educators can help students develop the skills they need to thrive in school and beyond.
In the context of training, social-emotional learning is defined as the process of cultivating self-awareness, self-control, and interpersonal skills that are essential for achieving success in school, work, and life. Social-emotional learning is a crucial aspect of human development that aims to equip teachers with the necessary skills, abilities, tools, and knowledge to build positive relationships, solve problems, make intelligent decisions, and achieve the required level of self-awareness. Social-emotional learning is a crucial component that can lay the groundwork for academic achievement.
VET teachers today understand that developing a learning culture that fosters, promotes, and models emotional and social intelligence is crucial to students' success. Learners will need to be able to recognize and control their feelings, connect with others in positive ways, set and maintain appropriate boundaries, and shoulder their fair share of responsibility in order to succeed in the complicated interactions they encounter on a daily basis. Social and emotional learning (SEE) allows us to include these "intelligences," as outlined by Daniel Goleman, into pedagogical approaches.
With SEE-VET training, participants will receive a more nuanced appreciation for the significance of SEE and the measures necessary to apply it through the lens of the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL). VET teachers’ S&EQ will improve as they get a better understanding of themselves and others via the course's hands-on exercises and discussions. VET teachers will be able to undertake SEE activities and be a SEE educator if they are equipped with concrete skills and methods for conflict management, stress reduction, and resilience.
In this highly dynamic and engaging learning event, participants will design their own plan of action for fostering SEE in their learning community through contemplation, experience, sharing, and developing the path that best fits their unique training community.
The SEE-VET training program comprises four (4) modules that focus on developing five Social Emotional Education Competencies.
The Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) has identified five core competencies that make up Social and Emotional Education (SEE). These competencies can be utilized in various settings such as classrooms, homes, and communities to enhance students' social and emotional skills and are the following:
Recognizing your emotions and how they influence your conduct; recognizing your strengths and shortcomings in order to acquire confidence in your talents.
To take control and ownership of your ideas, emotions, and behaviors in different situations, as well as to plan and work toward goals.
The ability to form and maintain positive relationships with people from a variety of backgrounds. This ability focuses on listening to and communicating with people, resolving disagreement calmly, and recognizing when to seek for or offer assistance.
Deciding how to act or respond to a situation is based on acquired behaviors such as ethics, safety, assessing repercussions, and considering the well-being of others as well as oneself.
